2. Categories of data processed
We process only the data necessary for the operation of the application and the provision of our services:
- Registration data: Name/nickname, email address, password.
- Profile data: Photo, bio and interests you choose to share.
- Geolocation data: Data about your current GPS location (if you grant consent on your device).
- User content: Chat messages, created events and participation in them.
- Technical data: IP address, device type, operating system version and analytics logs.
- Payment data: Subscription information (processed by an external gateway).
3. Purposes and legal bases for processing

4. Data sharing (Recipients)
We do not sell your personal data to third parties. We use the following partners for processing:
- Cloud hosting: Hetzner Online GmbH (servers in Germany, EU) for data storage.
- Map services: Leaflet and OpenStreetMap (OSM) for displaying map data.
- Payment gateways: Apple Pay / Google Play Store for managing memberships.
- Analytics: Tools for anonymous crash analysis and usage analytics.
5. Geolocation (Location tracking)
A core feature of GatherApp is connecting people based on location. The application accesses your location only when it is running (or in the background if you explicitly allow it). You can hide your location at any time in the app or system settings, which will however limit the map functionality.
6. Data retention period
We retain personal data for the duration of your user account. After account deletion, data is deleted or anonymised within 30 days, with the exception of data we are required to retain under legal obligations (e.g. accounting for memberships).
7. Your rights
Under GDPR you have the right to:
- Access your data and obtain a copy.
- Rectification of inaccurate data.
- Erasure of data (right to be forgotten).
- Restriction of processing.
- Data portability to another controller.
- Object to processing.
8. Account and personal data deletion
You have the right to request deletion of your account and all personal data at any time. The account can be deleted:
- Directly in the app: Settings → Account → Delete account.
- By email: Send a request to info@gatherapp.today with the subject "Account deletion".
After confirmation of the request, all personal data will be deleted or anonymised within 30 days, with the exception of data retained under legal obligations (e.g. accounting documents). Deleting the account in the app does not automatically cancel an active subscription — this must be cancelled separately via Apple App Store or Google Play.
9. Data security
We implement modern technical and organisational measures (transfer encryption, secure servers) to prevent unauthorised access to your data.
